About Monash Women

Monash Women's Materinty Service is the largest maternity service in the state of Victoria and provides care to more than 10,000 women each year across three hospitals - Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital and Casey Hospital as an integrated, seamless service. As expected for such a large volume service, Monash Women's provides maternity care for normal, healthy women and also for women with complex and sub-specialty needs. 

Monash Women's also has an extensive general and sub-specialty gynaecology service consisting of inpatient and outpatient services across Moorabbin Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital and the Cranbourne Centre.

About the Role 

Monash Women's is seeking to appoint sessional consultant obstetricians and gynaecologists at Casey Hospital from February 2022 for Birth suite and Pregnancy care clinic Consultants. 

Muliple positions are available. The successful applicants will do either pregnancy care clinic sessions, or a combination of clinic and Birthsuite sessions. Successful applicants will also participate in the afterhours on call roster, covering both Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Sessions involve working with and supervising midwifery and junior medical staff and reports to the Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dandenong and Casey Hospitals.

Initial appointments will be for one year, and ongoing upon satisfactory appraisal.

About You 

You will have extensive experience as an obstetrician and gynaecologist and hold FRANZCOG (or equivalent) and undertake the role in a manner that demonstrates commitment to the positive leadership behaviours of Monash Health, to the principles of working together and to Monash Health's Vision, Purpose and Values.

Ideally you will have demonstrated abilities in research, clinical governance, leadership and clinical teaching, training and supervision. 

Qualifications/registrations/licences (italics indicate desirable) 

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists 
  • Primary Medical Degree 
  • The incumbent must complete the Credentialing and Scope of Practice process prior to appointment and commencement. This will be reviewed on a regular basis. 

Technical skills/knowledge/experience  

  • Experience and competency in tertiary obstetrics 
  • Experience in leading quality and safety initiatives in maternity care 
  • Demonstrated ability to express empathy and support women and families through difficult clinical circumstances.

 Other position requirements 

  • As we support a culture of safety through employee immunisation, there must be documentation provided confirming completed immunisation on employment at Monash Health 
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check (must also comply with Aged Care Act 1997 Accountability Amendment Principles 2012 if working in Aged Care setting)  
  • Current and satisfactory Working with Children Check.
