About Us - Youth Consultation and Treatment Team (YCTT)

YCTT provides assessment and treatment for young people aged 18-25 with any mental disorder except primary functional psychotic disorders (this includes affective psychoses). YCTT ensures that intervention is appropriate to the mental health disorder, a young person’s and their family’s preferences for care, and to the developmental phase of the individual.

About the Role

This senior position focuses on providing mental health support to vulnerable youth & emerging adults with mental health needs who cannot be managed by primary health independently. The Youth-Focused Mental Health Clinician position is funded by Department of Health ‘Youth Early Intervention Team’ funding.  This position fulfils one of the identified service provision goals of this funding;

To enhance the capacity of the Young Persons Mental Health Service to respond to young people with more prevalent mental health problems that are significantly impacting on their personal and social functioning and wellbeing, and who are not currently receiving timely care.

In line with this service provision goal, the Youth-Focused Mental Health Clinician position will provide an ‘in-reaching’ style of engagement, mental health assessment and treatment – working from existing youth hubs with other youth-friendly services. This model of service co-location and collaboration aims to provide an additional access point to vulnerable young people presenting with mental health problems that do not require intensive tertiary mental health services but cannot be managed by a primary health service alone. The role will be based primarily at Monash Health Dandenong and Pakenham Headspace sites.

The role aims to provide targeted care to young people aged 18 to 25, in addition to the provision of primary and secondary mental health consultation and tertiary mental health educational activities to co-located youth services.  Furthermore, this role aims to facilitate smoother referrals and transitions to other tertiary mental health services for young people where required.
