About MMC Theatre Services at Monash Health

Monash Health is an impressive organisation of seven public hospitals, 21 community health sites, five aged care facilities, university affiliated international research and tertiary education. We provide healthcare for the entire lifespan from pre-birth to palliative care and all stages in between of clinical care.

Monash Medical Centre has 9 Operating Theatres and cater for a wide variety of surgical specialities including neurosurgery, cardiothoracic, vascular, UGI, ophthalmology, plastics, obstetrics & gynaecology colorectal, maxillofacial and general procedures. With co-located medical and post-surgical wards, we support our patients through their stay at Monash Health.

About The Role

We are looking for experienced Registered Nurses, with perioperative experience in scrub/scout, who are excellent multi-taskers and have a keen eye for detail. You will work within our busy theatres, working closely with and directly support our professional multidisciplinary team to ensure the safety of our patients in one of their most vulnerable states.

We have both Full Time and Part time opportunities, working across a rotating roster, inclusive of weekends and, possibly night duty if required, to start as soon as possible!  You would also become a part of our on call team for neurosurgery.

You will have access to resources to support you in this position, enabling you to further advance your nursing and leadership skills. We look for you to role model nursing excellence, in line with the Monash Health iCare values and delivering a high standard of evidence based patient care.  

About You

You have demonstrated experience as a neuro scrub/scout nurse, who is able to assist in back and brain surgery and be able to bring your critical thinking and multi-tasking skills.

You need:

  • Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Perioperative nursing, desirable but not essential
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Theatre and advanced clinical practice skills
  • Experience working in a Theatre within Scrub/Scrub - essential
  • Willingness to take on a portfolio(s) contributing to Ward quality improvements and National Standards
  • High interpersonal skills & ability to work in a fast paced, driven team
  • Australian working rights
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check
