About Us:

The Monash Pathology Service operates under the brand name of Monash Pathology and is an integral part of Monash Health. It is one of the largest providers of Pathology Services in the state and currently operates four laboratories with the main laboratory located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton and additional ones at Dandenong, Moorabbin and Casey Hospitals. Monash Pathology offers a comprehensive range of tests and the services are provided to the public and private sectors, and other laboratories.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated scientist with relevant training and experience to fill the position of Principal Scientist of Chemical Pathology, Monash Pathology. It is a rewarding position with great opportunities for job diversity and professional advancement. The successful applicant will report to the Director of Pathology and the Unit Head of Chemical Pathology. In addition to overseeing current services in the unit, the successful applicant will play a key role in advancing the service by identifying, developing and implementing new tests using modern technologies. This is a Full Time Ongoing position.

Selection Criteria Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Laboratory Medicine) or recognised equivalent

Member of AACB

Minimum of 10 years' relevant medical laboratory experience

Fellowship (AACB/AIMS) in Chemical Pathology or relevant PhD

Experience in managing a 24 hour pathology service with a comprehensive range of tests

Proven ability to manage a NATA accredited laboratory, and maintain NATA accreditation

Demonstrated resource and personnel management skills

Proven ability to supervise laboratory staff and students.

Extensive experience as a laboratory leader and senior scientist in relevant discipline service provision and research.
