Foundation Resident Pharmacist – Grade 1

The Monash Health Pharmacy Department is seeking an outstanding Pharmacist to further develop their pharmacy skills and carer within the supported environment of the Monash Health network.

  • Grade 1 Pharmacist – Pharmacist Award Classification SW5- SW10
  • Full time – 2+ year contract
    • Work prior to residency for orientation and training as soon as possible
    • Residency to commence March 2022- March 2024
  • 4 x 6 month rotations (surgical, general medicine, operational and breadth/elective)
  • Work across all Monash Health sites

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists at Monash Health for eight early career pharmacists to join our team and participate in our Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) accredited, Foundation Residency Program. There is an opportunity to join the pharmacy team prior to the residency commencement in March 2022 for orientation and training. The current 2021 pharmacy interns are also encouraged to apply.

The Residents are supported by an enthusiastic Pharmacy Education Team and will be assigned dedicated preceptors for each rotation. Together, the resident and preceptor will complete Mini Clinical Evaluation Exercises (mini CEX’s), case based discussions and SHPA Clinical Competency Achievement Tool (ClinCAT) evaluations amongst other activities, which will help guide the resident’s development and learning over the 2 year residency program. The resident will develop research experience and skills through leading a research project with supervisor support.

The key purpose of this role is to:

  • Participate in a structured, formalised and supported rotational pharmacist residency program over 2 years
  • Work effectively in a pharmacy team providing  pharmacy services in a variety of settings
  • Provide medicines and medication advice safely and professionally to a variety of clients.
  • Weekends and public holidays overtime work will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pharmacy services in a safe and professional manner to Monash Health patients, clients and carers
  • Complete all required residency activities to a high standard, including a research project, within the 2 year residency program.

About You

Essential:

  • Current registration as a pharmacist with AHPRA
  • Ability to work effectively in interprofessional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to continued professional development and education
  • Has a positive “can-do” attitude and displays initiative and reliability 

Desirable:

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications (completed or in progress)
  • Previous experience in a hospital environment
  • Established clinical pharmacy practice skills and experience.
