About Monash Health

Monash Health is an impressive organisation of seven public hospitals, 21 community health sites, five aged care facilities, university affiliated international research and tertiary education. We provide healthcare for the entire lifespan from pre-birth to palliative care and all stages in between, and we have recently opened the new 230-bed Monash Children’s Hospital.

About the Role

This permanent and full-time position, is a great opportunity to challenge yourself in this unique leadership position, with the role providing oversight and expert direction on the maintenance and reporting of the Mental Health Program’s legislative obligations. The role requires a thorough knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health Act (2014) to work proactively and collaboratively across the service in response to emerging priorities, each demanding a high level of initiative and problem solving skills.

It also holds operational responsibility and accountability for the Tribunal Officers Team ensuring that hearings/assessments are scheduled to meet the needs of the consumer and service; it also manages the administrator for the Second Psychiatric Opinion Service.

The successful applicant will need to have an in depth understanding of the Victorian Mental Health Act (2014) as guidance will be sought by others both within the Mental Health Program and by other services. A well-developed communication style that demonstrates diplomacy and tenacity is a must, as is the ability to influence and inform change, particularly in the realm of mental health consumer rights.

Some travel between Monash Health Hospital sites and attendance at external forums will be required.
