The RACS (Rehabilitation & Aged Care Services) psychology department comprises of Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Neuropsychologists and Health Psychologists who work across the sub-acute network of Kingston Centre, Dandenong and Casey Hospital. RACS psychologists work from a patient-care perspective, delivering high quality, evidence based assessment and treatment. The department values itself with key initiatives and portfolios to improve service provision and quality of psychological practice.

About the Role

RACS psychologists deliver short-term, evidenced based treatment to a variety of patients and have key roles working within the multidisciplinary teams across the sub-acute wards using a patient-centred care perspective. The Senior Clinical Psychologist will undertake a diverse role in investigating, identifying, documenting and providing psychological therapy to rehabilitation patients with psychological, personality, behavioural and/or cognitive factors that are potentially impacting on engagement and discharge planning. In addition, the senior role supports staff with the most complex patients across the network with involvement in treatment planning meetings and higher level investigations into barriers to discharge. Additional senior responsibilities include supervision, coordinating service improvement initiatives and student planning.

The role is temporary for 12 months with the possibility of extension thereafter due to flexible return to work arrangements. The position is 0.47 EFT (or 2.5 days per week), flexible, family-friendly hours are supported.

About you

Your ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to a wide range of audiences is essential, along with excellent time-management, and advanced skills and knowledge in working with patients with medical and comorbid psychological issues. In addition to direct patient work, your ability to work from a secondary consultation model within multidisciplinary teams and broader stakeholders is key along with the ability to advise the team from the role of psychological expert.

You have over 10 years experience endorsed as a clinical psychologist with supervisor status with APHRA. You have great leadership skills, enjoy supervision and mentoring of staff and thrive in the dynamic nature of working within an inpatient setting.
