Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) cares for more than 100,000 children per year, providing care across the continuum of paediatric services from birth to 18 years of age.  It is one of the largest children’s hospitals in Australia and one of only two tertiary paediatric hospitals in Victoria. MCH is co-located next to Monash Medical Centre in Clayton and is a purpose-built paediatric facility where clinical services will be delivered in a child and family-friendly environment. 

The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a new dedicated Paediatrics Tertiary 10 bed Unit with a complex patient mix.   PICU is the second tertiary centre for paediatrics in Victoria and operates across a 24/7 rotational roster.

About the role

As a Paediatric Registered Nurses (RN’s) you have acute clinical experience, ideally, but not limited to Paediatrics. The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team with the sole purpose of delivering exceptional patient centred care in a family friendly environment is our common goal.

In addition, you will be required to:

  • Escalate clinical concerns & changes in a patient’s condition to PICU ANUM & PICU medical staff
  • Communicate effectively with confidence within the multidisciplinary Team
  • Participate in Quality & Safety Activities and maintenance of NSQHS standards
  • Work towards meeting Organisational KPI’s
  • Participation in ward based research & in the development of policy & procedures
  • Attend Annual Paediatric ALS & complete mandatory training across OHS & clinical practice 

We currently have ongoing and fixed term contact, full and part time roles working across a 24/7 rotating roster. August 2019 Intake to the Graduate Program welcome to apply.

About You

You are truly passionate about Paediatric Nursing and demonstrate the following:

  • Registered Nurse experience in Paediatric Intensive Care 
  • Minimum 1 years in acute paediatric or Adult Intensive Care nursing
  • Post Graduate qualifications in Critical Care Nursing or Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills & superior time management skills
  • Evidence of a commitment to professional development & care of the critically ill child
  • Thrive using your proven critical thinking & problem solving skills 
  • Willing to manage specific portfolios in our relentless pursuit of excellence

What you need

  • A Post Graduate Qualification, in Paediatrics highly desirable
  • Clinical Nursing experience, acute/critical care/paediatric setting highly preferred
  • Willingness to take on a portfolio(s) contributing to ward quality improvements & National Standards
  • Australian working rights
  • Current AHPRA registration
