About Ward 34 – Monash Medical Centre

Ward 34 is a 36-40 bed unit providing care to patients with renal and gastroenterology problems. Our unit is one of the largest in Australia, specialising in transplantation, dialysis and end stage renal failure management. We are one of only two hospitals in the country to offer and provide care for patients receiving simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplants. We are also dedicated to caring for patients with Gastroenterology problems such as disorders of the gastrointestinal tract including the liver and pancreas. We work closely alongside a number of wards both within the hospital and on other Monash Health campuses that form the Monash Health Nephrology/Gastroenterology department. The unit is fast paced and busy with the tendency to change at any time.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse to grow their career in leadership as an Associate Nurse Manager to work in a Part time Permanent position across a 7 day, rotating roster – All Shifts.

The successful applicants will be able to lead a shift and support the team in providing broad and specialised care for Renal patients with acute, chronic and end stage renal failure, kidney and pancreatic transplants and dialysis. Our Nursing staff also care for patients with disorders of the GI tract who may require various endoscopic interventions such as gastroscopic and colonic scopes, MRCP and ERCP. Education is an important aspect on the ward, you will be provided with the support and assistance required to ensure you are capable of managing the patients you will be caring for.

You are a genuinely passionate and caring person who is highly committed supporting the Nurse Manager and leading the team operationally ensuring the delivery of exceptional care within a fast-paced & dynamic environment. You have amazing interpersonal skills that make you a clear communicator and influencer, while having the ability to build rapport with others, working well within a multidisciplinary team.

You will:

  • Demonstrated clinical skills, Renal and/or Gastroenterology Nursing and recent acute experience an advantage
  • experience in leadership / in charge shifts is desirable and highly regarded
  • Membership of the relevant professional association 
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations readily and the ability to think laterally
  • A commitment to working collaboratively and effectively with a team 
  • Flexibility to support our renal and gastroenterology services
  • Demonstrate ongoing clinical education relevant to area of practice
  • A supportive learning environment should you wish to undertake Post-Graduate studies

What you need

  • Relevant qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in an acute setting, ANM or leadership is desirable
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • A graduate Certificate in Renal Nursing is highly regarded
