About Us

The Monash Health Pathology Service operates under the brand name of Monash Pathology and is an integral part of Monash Health. It is one of the largest providers of Pathology services in the state and currently operates 4 laboratories. The largest of these is located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with additional facilities being located at the Dandenong, Moorabbin and Casey Hospitals. 

Services are provided to the Public and Private sectors, and other laboratory services

About the Role 

We are currently seeking a Medical Scientist Grade 2 (second in charge) within the Blood Bank Unit at the Clayton site. The role involves routine and specialised blood bank testing with a rotation into routine haematology and coagulation.  The laboratory offers a 24 hour service and the successful applicant will be required to participate in shift , weekend and on call work.  This is a Full Time Ongoing position.

What you need to know

The successful applicant will have a Degree in Applied Science (MLS) or recognised equivalent, Experience in Routine Haematology, Morphology, Coagulation and Blood Bank laboratory experience is desirable. A higher qualification or Fellowship in Haematology or Blood Bank will be an advantage.

Selection Criteria Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Laboratory Medicine) or recognised equivalent

Experience in Routine Haematology, Morphology, Coagulation and Blood Bank will be advantageous

Applicant must agree to participate in shift and weekend roster

Applicant must agree to work a 6 month probation period

Higher qualifications or Fellowship in Haematology will be an advantage
