About our Mental Health Intellectual Disability Initiative (MHIDI) at Monash Health

Monash Health is an impressive organisation of seven public hospitals, 21 community health sites, five aged care facilities, university affiliated international research and tertiary education. We provide healthcare for the entire lifespan from pre-birth to palliative care and all stages in between.

Stronger Together (MHIDI) is part of the Adult Mental Health program located in Thomas Street, Dandenong. We provide multidisciplinary specialist assessment, clinical treatment and behavioural management support for people who have been diagnosed over the age of 16 years, with developmental-intellectual disability and a co-existing diagnosed mental health condition or suspected mental health condition, many of whom will have complex presentations and challenging behaviours.

About the Role

As a Clinician working in collaboration with the clinical team including the program Consultant Psychiatrist and Behaviour Support Specialist, you are responsible to complete risk & mental state assessments, provide intervention and consult on the formulation of care to consumers with a diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of dual disability.

We also provide support for families and carers, build linkages with community organisations, and deliver education supporting the ongoing care into the community.

This opportunity is for a Full Time Contract position funded through to end of June 2020.

About You

You are a suitably qualified Senior Mental Health Nurse with exceptional clinical knowledge and assessment skills. You have experience in or have a keen interest in the intellectual disability sector, working efficiently in a team environment and passionate to achieve outstanding outcomes for our consumers. For further consideration for this role, you will need;

  • A Post Graduate Diploma or higher studies in Mental Health Nursing, OR completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program OR specialist post basic course of training which led to registration as a Division 3 Nurse
  • Excelled in your experience in Mental Health Nursing
  • Experience and postgraduate qualification to qualify for working with people with a Dual disability; Mental Health and Intellectual Disability.
  • Current registration through AHPRA
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
