About Monash Health

Monash Health is Victoria’s largest public health service. We are proud to provide healthcare to one quarter of Melbourne’s population, across the entire life-span from newborn and children, to adults, the elderly, their families and carers. More than 18,000 employees work at over 40 care locations across south eastern Melbourne, including Monash Medical Centre, Monash Children’s Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital, Kingston Centre, Cranbourne Centre, and an extensive network of rehabilitation, aged care, community health and mental health facilities.

About the SPARCS:

The SPARCS provides community based residential treatment and support for women (aged 18-64) who experience mental illness. It is a 10-bed sub-acute service for women:

  • who have been an inpatient on a psychiatric ward and would benefit from a supported, transitional recovery period before going home, OR
  • who are at risk of relapse of mental illness and would benefit from a period of increased treatment and support to avoid an ED and/or hospital admission.

The SPARCS is managed through a well-established partnership between Monash Health and ERMHA. Clinicians and recovery support workers work together to deliver a range of comprehensive and integrated recovery focused interventions, with particular attention paid to the specific needs of women

About the Mental Health Program

Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 18,000 people across a range of specialities.

The Mental Health Program (MHP) provides a range of community, bed-based and specialist services covering the Casey, Cardinia, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Monash LGAs – a population of nearly one million.  It has an operational budget of $130 million and employs approximately 820 EFT, representing over 1000 staff.

The MHP has a number of clinical units including three adult units (Casey, Dandenong and Clayton), an Early in Life Mental Health Service (comprising infant, child, and adolescent services), Young Persons’ Mental Health Service, Psychology and Specialist Services (PsySS), Drug & Alcohol service and Gender Dysphoria Clinic. Southern Synergy supports the Mental Health Programs with specialist research innovations. The program has five PARCS (Prevention and Recovery Care Services) which includes a specialist Women’s only PARCS, an Extended Care PARCS and Youth PARCS.  The clinical service is supported by an aligned operational structure to enable the provision of high quality service through the creation of clinical-operational partnerships to support staff, patients, carers and their families, and a strong professional structure that supports the governance of the health professional workforce.

About the Role
